Don’t Buy a Wrinkle Cream Until You’ve Read This!
We all know that we should be putting cream on our faces (and bodies) to hydrate our skin.
Ideally, we should start doing this when we’re in our early twenties, especially when wearing make-up as that dries our skin out massively.
Honestly, I think I was in my late thirties before I started thinking about anti aging products, which is waaay to late.
I must admit that I’ve always had good skin and I didn’t start seeing any wrinkles until I was 39! I can remember on my 38th birthday I looked in the mirror and I thought to myself, bloody hell Claire, you’re nearly 40!
Panic set in and it was then that I went out and bought a face cream to use daily. It seems to stupid, naive and bizarre that I waited until my 38th birthday to do that. But in my defence, as I said above, I always had good, hydrated and wrinkle free skin so there was no need to do anything for my skin.
But of course, I now know that really we should all start putting on good quality face cream starting in our twenties.
If we start putting on face cream in out twenties, it’s the case of preventing wrinkles as opposed to trying to fix the solution when they do eventually appear.
Moisturizers v Anti Wrinkle Creams
Moisturizers are great to hydrate your skin and a standard moisturizer or serum’s base ingredient will likely include water and oils with additional ingredients such as waxes, lactate, proteins and glycerin.
A moisturizer temporarily hydrates and plumps the skin up which makes fine lines and wrinkles less visible.
Anti wrinkle creams are basically moisturizers with added active ingredients which offer additional anti aging benefits. These added ingredients are intended to improve skin tone, texture, fine lines and wrinkles.
Just remember that the effectiveness of these anti wrinkle creams depends in part on your skin type and the active ingredient(s).
To help you, I’ve listed below nine powerful anti aging cream ingredients that you should look out for when buying your next wrinkle cream.

Vitamin E | A potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. It’s good for protection against the sun and can actually help heal sunburn and other skin/scar deficiencies. |
Co-Enzyme 10 | When CoQ10 is present in cream it helps boost the skin cells and helps restore them back to their natural state. It also helps reduce free radical damage by providing a protecting layer in the cells. |
SPF | Try to find a good wrinkle cream with built in sun protection, this is especially true if you work or spend a lot of time outdoors. Just be aware that the SPF will be much lower than that of a standard sun protector cream. |
Copper Peptides | Peptides are known to be very effective to enhance skin care rejuvenation as they enhance the growth of collagen and elastin into the skin. They are also renowned for successfully healing damaged skin tissue such as wounds and scars. |
Hyaluronic Acid | This is a common skin care ingredient as it is water-based and adds moisture to the skin. It keeps the skin firm, soft, supple and moisturised. |
Niacinamide | A potent antioxidant, this substance is related to vitamin B-3 (niacin). It helps reduce water loss in the skin and may improve skin elasticity. |
So with the above in mind, I’ve found various anti aging creams with some of these ingredients in them as outlined below.
