All Diets Work
You just have to find the right one that suits you!
There’s no one-size-fits-all type of weight loss plan.
What I mean by this is that all diets work, or they wouldn’t exist.
The ‘secret’ is to find a one that:
- Suits your lifestyle.
- Isn’t too far out of your comfort zone.
- Doesn’t stress you out.
- Is within your budget.
So if you’re looking for a weight loss plan that really works, then this simply means that you have to find a one which suits you personally. And if it suits you and your lifestyle, then you’re much more likely to stick to your new healthy eating habits and this will ultimately become a weight loss success for you.
So with that being said, let’s find a weight loss plan specifically for you.
Your first step is to be really mindful about:
- Your lifestyle
- Your likes and dislikes, and
- How much you’re willing to spend.
Go ahead and write the answers down.
Now you’re in a position to find the right type of diet plan to get involved in.
About the Different Types of Weight Loss Plans
I’ve categorized the different types of diet plans to show you the different options which are available to you to suit your lifestyle and preferences.
Some weight loss plans fit into more than one category so you might see the same one twice in different categories.
Also please note that I’m not listing every single diet under the sun here. What I’ve done is divided them into categories / types.
Different Countries
Also, I’ve tried to include where these weight loss plans reside. Some are universal as they are Online, but some are only available in certain countries.
So let’s get started.
1) One-on-One Support
This is location dependent where you meet weekly 1:1 with your coach for weight loss guidance, personalized feedback, and custom meal planning.
Some plans/consultants may come to your home while others ask you to meet at their center based nearest to you.
- Jenny Craig | US, Canada & Puerto Rico
- One2OneDiet | UK & Republic of Ireland
As you can imagine, these plans are pretty pricey as you have to buy their meals and you get personalized face-to-face support.
On the plus side, these are very popular and they do get results. So if you need that very personalized 1:1 support, then this may be the plan for you.
Sidenote: There are also literally thousands of online weight loss/nutrition coaches who will tailor a diet to you and look after you personally via email and Skype/Zoom meetings. However, these are very expensive and don’t include food. Just guidance, support, advice and menu plans.
2) Online Weight Loss Memberships
I’m thinking Weight Watchers here and similar online memberships.
With these diet memberships you can eat all types of real food (not replacement meals) but in a restricted way.
Some are calorie controlled and some are based on the nutritional value of the food.
The main focus of these weight loss memberships is eating plans. They will give you advice on fitness, but the real focus is on the food you eat to lose weight.
- Weight Watchers | USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand
- Weight Loss Resources | Global
- Slimming World | UK
You also get access to email support and they have an online members forum so you can chat and get motivational support with other members.
You pay a small monthly membership fee and get access to an enormous database of foods and recipes as well as weight and body tracking metrics.
3) Fitness & Health Memberships
These are similar to the online weight loss programs, but their main focus in on the fitness side of things.
You will normally get access to dozens of fitness videos varying with different workouts and fitness levels.
You’ll also get diet and nutritional menu plans and tips.
- Beachbody | Global
- Jillian Michaels | Global
- DDPY | Global
You also get access to email support and they have an online members forum so you can chat and get motivational support with other members.
Again, you pay a small monthly membership subscription fee to get access to all the fitness workouts and menu plans.
4) Meal Delivery Plans
Weight loss meal delivery plans are becoming more and more popular today. This is because people are so busy that they just want to make their life easier.
These types of plans are where you get real food delivered to your door which are calorie controlled.
The main ingredients are pre-measured and sometimes the meals require you to add your own fresh vegetables, which you purchase yourself form your local supermarket/fruit & veg shop (or get these delivered too).
- Home Bistro | USA
- Green Chef | USA
- Jenny Craig | US, Canada & Puerto Rico
- Hello Fresh | UK
These aren’t monthly subscriptions.
You choose your meals for that week or month and then pay for those meals. Once paid, you get them delivered to your door.
Then you would visit the website again to choose your meals for the next week/month and pay for those.
5) Meal Replacement Plans
These are very similar to above apart from the fact that these are meal replacement meals – not real food, so to speak.
So these mainly consist of packet soups, bars, shakes etc. Basically, they are all ‘packet’ meals which you make up yourself with water.
- Doctors Best Weight Loss | USA
- Diet Direct |
- Huel | Global
- Exante | UK
Note: I live in the UK and I personally done Exante for a few months a few years ago. They are very reasonably priced and the packet meals are actually nice.
So if you live in the UK, then I can recommend Exante – even if it’s just to kick-start your weight loss for a few weeks.
6) Meal Planning Subscriptions
Now what I mean by this is that you pay a very small monthly subscription fee to get meals plans and grocery shopping lists emailed to you on a weekly or monthly basis.
No food is delivered to your door.
This is for people who aren’t very ‘creative’ with their meal choices and need to be literally told what healthy meals to cook, the ingredients to buy and how to cook them.
This takes all the thinking and planning out of your weekly meal planning – because it all get’s done for you.
- eMeals
- Plan to Eat
- Deals to Meals (seems a bit outdated, so didn’t provide link)
There are many of these subscription services online which is great as you now have the choice as to which types of menu’s you want to subscribe to.
For example:
- Low Carb
- Vegetarian
- Vegan
- Paleo
- Keto etc..
Simply choose the meal plans which suits your eating preferences and you’ll get balanced, healthy and nutritional meals plans delivered to your email inbox or phone app.
Remember, no food is getting delivered to your door, only the recipes are via email or app.
However, with some of these you can send your shopping list directly to Amazon Fresh, Instacart, Walmart or a few other online grocery sites and get your food delivered to your door. Obviously you pay for your food separately at these online grocery shops.
These meals planning apps/websites will charge you a very small monthly subscription fee and some are free.
7) DIY With Weight Loss Supplements
These have been around for years haven’t they?
Normally when we talk about weight loss supplements we’re normally talking about:
- Appetite Suppressants
- Metabolism Boosters
- Fat Burners
- Carb Blockers
You have to be careful what you buy when purchasing any of these supplements, so make sure you get them from a reputable brand.
So you would eat low fat, low carb healthy meals and take the weight loss supplement as directed.
There are millions of people who purchase these every day and there are literally thousands of success stories from people who have had success in losing weight just by combining healthy eating and taking one of the above supplements.
8) DIY With Books
And lastly is the good old diet book.
I’ve literally bought dozens of these over the years on many different kinds of diet plans.
So if you don’t have a load of money to spend on memberships or supplements, and have the motivation to carry out your own weight loss journey, then consider getting a book to suit your eating preferences.
There are literally hundreds of books of all different diets imaginable, so you will definitely be able to find a one which suits you.
You cannot go far wrong with Amazon, especially since they have their star-rated system from other customers.
I’m going to make a book recommendation here.
If you like home-comfort food, then the Pinch of Nom is a bloody brilliant weight loss cookery book.
This is an extremely fast-seller and is choc-a-bloc full of home-style recipes.
My husband loves it when I get this book out to look for dinners for through the week – it’s a real family-orientated cookery book.
The best thing is too is that it is Weight Watcher and Slimming World friendly, so if you want to watch the calories whilst also having very tasty food, then I think that you’ll love this cookery book.
Check the price on Amazon here.
Note: I would recommend that you buy this book in hardcover. Some recipe books should not be bought on Kindle, and this is one of them!
I promise, you won’t be disappointed with this book.
